Bizarre Turkington interview

Nevermind the dodgy pose. Apparently Colin Turkington is the new Lewis Hamilton, according to the Electric New Paper, Singapore. And what a naughty boy he turns out to be:
My girlfriend in Ireland is just as hot as [Hamilton's girlfriend] is, but in Macau, I'm single and available.'

Shocking.

SEAT 2009

Presumably if...
the [SEAT Cupra 2008 champion] will have an opportunity to get behind the wheel of a third factory-backed BTCC Leon for one weekend

...the SEAT are in until at least 2009?

Ford

Autocar quoth:
Rumours also abound that the Blue Oval is also about to re-enter the British Touring Car Championship. Perhaps a bet on them for BTCC winners in 2009 wouldn’t be such a long shot after all.

Probably just got it from forum banter, but you never know.

Everything Must Go!

  • Is Martyn Bell looking to replace his 320i?
  • Why's Tom Boardman selling his Leon Supercopa?
  • Did any engine from the BTC Lexus even complete 60 laps without blowing up?
  • Too old to wheel out the Alfa 147 rumours again?
  • Given that Encke Sport still haven't managed to flog their Astras, will they ever make it to the BTCC?
  • Given that Chevys are for sale, what excuse do Clyde Valley Racing have now?
  • Why not try a S2000 car new to the BTCC - shiny Merc, slow Peugeot or an unproven Focus?
  • And why would anyone ever livery an Alfa 156 like this??

Team Halfords 2nd driver

Motorsport News says Radisich, Chilton and Rydell are in the running to replace Matt Neal at Team Halfords. However, word is that a deal with Chilton is all but publicly confirmed... methinks Neal Sr is just throwing a couple of fan-favourite names to the press so the fans keep talking. (Remember Jodie Kidd?!)

Sponsorship works

Nice happy article about Hewden's sponsorship with Motorbase this year. Interestingly they weren't roped in by any particular driver or team; instead they were so impressed with the exposure potential of the BTCC they went straight to TOCA who pointed them in the direction of potential suitable teams.
They're also looking to continue with Motorbase into 2008, which is good news all round.

John George

OK, scratch the whole TH-George-Civic thing. John will be back with TH Motorsport in an Integra. That's at least 3 BTC spec cars set for '08.

Rumours

  • Team Dynamics had a couple of Civics for sale in Autosport, now they don't. Word is John George wants to upgrade his Integra.
  • TCT reckons Turner is no more with SEAT. Jonny Adam and Carl Breeze have both had their appetites whetted by their tests in the Leon, but they're not expected to line-up alongside Plato come Brands Indy.
  • According to MN Rob Collard wants back in tourers for '08. Smart money is back with his old friends at GR Asia.
  • Adam Jones to Team Halfords?
  • BTC Racing - new engine, possibly a new Lexus, but Stockton will stay on.
  • Nick Leason has been trying out AFM's BMW 120d. You'd think he'd want to move further *up* the grid, but no.

DVD update

7 hours! 2 discs! Duke might even be able to fit all of Plato's ego on it this time.
